Ahead of an important summer transfer window, FC Barcelona is looking to strengthen its defensive reinforcements. Antony Rudiger is the latest one currently being linked with FC Barcelona.

Although Rudiger is an excellent player coming for absolutely free, Barca fans want the management to secure Ronald Araujo for the future before signing new players.

How does Ronald Araujo fare when compared with an elite Center Back?

Ronald Araújo vs Antonio Rüdiger : Defensive Actions

Let’s compare their Defensive Actions for their respective teams in the domestic league competition.

Araujo is winning 1.12 tackles per 90, whereas Rudiger wins 0.81 tackles. Also, Araujo has a better number of dribbles tackled, averaging 1.01 compared to Rudiger’s 0.69 tackles per 90.

Both Araujo and Rudiger have similar pressures metrics, 8.16 and 8.19 per 90, respectively.

Radar chart, Ronald Araújo vs Antonio Rüdiger : Defensive Actions

The trend continues in Tackles & Interceptions as well. Ronald Araujo is averaging 3.13 per 90, Rudiger is averaging 2.65

Both the center backs are well built. They have a good recovery pace to clear the balls from dangerous positions in the opposition’s half. They are averaging 3.52 and 3.35 clearances, respectively.

Araujo is excellent in the air, winning 2.96 aerial duel wins per 90, compared to 2.08 for Rudiger.

Ronald Araujo is the backbone of the current Barca’s backline. He has all the raw skills to go on and become an elite Center Back in the world.

He’s got the physical presence in the box, is good in the air, has the raw pace, and is excellent in set pieces. With Xavi as the coach, his ball-playing abilities and passing will only improve further.

Conclusion:

Antony Rudiger as a free transfer is a steal and will improve our defense further, but Barcelona’s Management priority should be Araujo’s contract renewal.

Although all the links and potential summer signings are free, Barcelona should secure their young talents for the future before going on a signing spree, albeit free ones, considering their financial situation and salary cap restrictions in Laliga.

Here’s hoping to see Ronald Araujo in Blaugrana colours for many years ahead.

Until next time, Visca El Barça💙❤️
